Making a self-portrait outdoors is not just like photographing any model outdoors.
When you’re out with a model and you spot some beautiful light, you can immediately shoot the pictures.
For this you do not necessarily need a tripod while focusing can be done automatically.
At that point you only have to measure the ambient light.
As it happened, I found a nice spot in the woods a few days ago. It could perfectly serve as a scenery for my daily photo. The sunlight was just right in the place where I wanted it to be. So I put my tripod in place, began to focus my camera and measured the light. The test photo looked very nice. So I could begin for real. By the time the pictures were taken, the sun had shifted away…
